I am looking to start an OS-MMORPG using the NetGore Engine as a base. Right now I have a working basis for the story of the game but am in dire need of assistance. Bare bone site here : Project Kodiak : it's about as naked as the game currently.

Project Kodiak wrote:
Base Storyline: Kodiak is a realistic fantasy based on the near mass extinction of the human race soon after the Industrial Revolution. Over 1300 years have passed since the reign of Man as the dominant species on Earth and now, many species have reached the level of sentience only Man once knew.

Races:

  • The Bear clans of the Ursisdus.
  • The remaining near-Sapiens.
  • The many nests of the Neronaga.
  • The new crowned Avian kings and their followers.
  • The schools of the Aqvita.
  • The proud Feleos defending the plains.
  • The swarms of Perrus.
  • The Canos prides.

We are currently looking for :

  • Graphic Artists
  • Level Designer
  • C# / XNA Programers

What would you be doing?
Will they get anything for their work?
What kind of graphics?
Topdown or sidescrolling levels?

Try to give as much information as possible.

Ill add all that in, thanks Smile

Sidescrolling MMO
Pixelated Realistic Avatars (Think Maplestory, just not Chibi)
I'll be doing some of all of the above, while making sure certain tasks get done on time (Project Management)
Pre-release work will be volunteer only unfortunately. After release I could set up payments, even possibly for past work.

PS Ignore the currently looking for part, I copied that from my post on another site, right now I just need bits of help everywhere and any time people can spare Smile

I assume that you're going to be the main programmer, or are at least going to be extensively involved with the programming.

Otherwise you really shouldn't be the one to choose which engine or language the game uses.

yeah how may people arer involved atm?

if you have a public presence, release it when its complete..

WIP scares people off.

how many people are you?
What are you doing?

why are there no forums? (1 subforum, 0 posts)

those are things you definetely need fixed up.

Yes, I will be the Lead, although my knowledge of the languages NetGore uses is slim. I am rather well skilled as systems programming and analysis though, along with Java, COBOL, and HTML.

Currently there is myself (Design/Programing), and 3 friends who have shown interest but are waiting for a more solid foundation to start from. Answered earlier, I will being a Lead in programming, but will do anything I can with design and management. As for the forums, hadn't had a chance to set those up yet (Trying to decide if I will go with the current one or offsite).

I personally don't see much problem with using free web hosts as long as the page still looks good (not covered with crappy ads from the host). But yeah, it does come off as a bit less "professional".

Heres a suggestion:

If your going to use a free host website, at least use one that has no ads.

Go to http://www.000webhost.com/features

Click For BPGaming Home Page

ive had bad uptimes there.

For the beginning, you just need a private dev forum.

ads are annoying, but banners are acceptable for a freehostsite.

Whn you go public, get a domain that looks good.
ideally youll get pain webspace and accept donations/have a very cheap item shop.
