Http://www.tanaronline.com/NGDI.exe - client for NetGore v0.2.3 Release Date: Friday, July 9, 2010 - 11:42am Build: 3032
I've setup a demo server on my vps anyone who wants to bug test the latest release. I'll update the demo server each time there is a new release. (not from the svn of course). Currently there is no updater so we'll just release a new client with the new servers. The only thing running on the vps currently is this test server. So what you see (latency) is what you get, and this is no cheap vps.
School is starting Monday and I'm looking at 18 credit hours of classes. I use aim and my username is TanarGMRich. Feel free to contact me if I miss a new release or the server crashes.
Great news Skye! Also I went ahead and made the server with the current svn code.
will have to check it out when i get home. I cant wait to start ahving the time to do stuff to netgore now ![]()
YaY for teh 'Phro, some more topdown coding (e.g. decent AI) would be awesome indeed.
Well I'll be here to help. Alas I have too much invested in tanar and vbgore to really abandon my project. So if we can get this thing off the ground in netgore a++ for us!
I'm guessing you're running the server in DebugTopDown then? Maybe if more people actively use the TopDown version of netgore, Spodi will actually test TopDown builds before releasing as he's forgotten that many times in the last couple of months ![]()
The two most important things that are still needed for topdown are
- decent topdown ai
- bodies.dat / sprite support
Once those are added and the DevKit is up & running I see lotsa people giving netgore a go. At least the ones who thought of using vbgore should definitely start using netgore then.
the thing with top-down AI is i still need to complete all of the stuff to abstract from the pathfinder. Should be very easy for top-down. Just a lot harder for sidescroller as I'm gonna need to predict some jumps etc.. I'll figure it out don't worry
Plus when i tested the pathfinder with sidescroller last time with my very prototypical abstract layer it was SO SO laggy/buggy so i didn't bother putting it on the svn, I'm gonna have to take a different way of doing it. ( however I found sound many small accidental places in the code where boxing sucks performance however testing that and trying to squeeze performance out of it. Hopefully I'll find some more as they are easy to fix.)
Can't wait to see how you handle the UO, aPhRo_. I'm partial to the sidescroller aspect (the jumping part sounds rough!), but both are important!
And thanks for the demo server, richardf!
The updater is as good as finished so with the next release you can have auto-updates
