Hi NetGore. Some of you may know who I am and the game I developed using another VB free source engine. The game I created and that has been running for almost four years now (24/7) is Ambardia. I am familiar with the name Spodi and am desperately trying to get away from VB6 and rebuild my game in a new engine.

I'm going to lurk about and see if this may be what I could take into consideration. More and more of my players are telling me they wish Ambardia was coded in C so that they could help. I pride myself in listening to my players and Ambardia is a game with heart and soul that has been developed over the years based on player input. Maybe this is it.

Anyway, hi everyone.

Welcome! Hope NetGore suits your needs. Smile

Just to clarify, NetGore uses C#, not C, which are two hugely different languages. But not like there is much use to programming a game in C these days anyways.

Hey, what was the old VB6 engine btw just out of interest? Also i'd have said if you want to program a game in something "C like" then i'd have said C# or C++ Smile but since NetGore is here with a lot of work already done, C# seems like a good choice Tongue

Whoah, it's 3D? I'm not sure if you can do that with Netgore without quite a bit of adaptation.

They look more like pre-rendered sprites.

Yeah, I am seeing no 3D, just 2D with 3D (and most likely pre-rendered) models. In fact, I think those might be Reiner's models.

While SFML does not support 3D, I don't think it'd be too tough to use OpenGL directly (such as through Tao or OpenTK) for the 3D model part. SFML even has built-in support for non-SFML rendering. So 3D models in NetGore shouldn't be too tough.

Ambardia is truly 2D. Most of the sprites are 3D models I have posed and taken screen shots of. When I first started developing the game I used Reiners Sprites but I have been slowly replacing them over the years with my own custom work.

Since I no longer use most of the old Reiner graphics I also have released the work I did to get them on tile sheets. If anyone would like to play with them your free to do so. Reiner Tile Sets
